Bosch Residence - Concrete Countertop
The Bosch family from Burlington, Ontario contracted Surface Design Systems to custom make concrete counter tops, in their kitchen to compliment the finer detailed work in its surrounds.
The kitchen is the heart and hearth of the modern home, and the focal point for family and friends to gather in. In addition to our increasingly hectic and virtual world, there is a desire that kitchen environments reflect and retain a sense of warmth and comfort.
Surface Design Systems achieved this appearance our client was looking for in warm soft subtle tones of beige pigments added into the add mixture. Materials such as stone, tile, wood do sharply contrast with other raw materials from nature like concrete.
The true beauty of concrete is revealed when it is ground to a polished appearance as seen here. Subsequently we think of craftsmanship, as a hallmark of earlier design traditions, and it is here in the Bosch home, in this setting, where craftsmanship in contemporary and traditional designs by others find common ground where concrete fits in so well.
For our part the subsequent client revelations are always a joy to see time and time again.
